We do not collect any of the following:

  • No Personal Identifiers: We do not collect your name, email address, phone code, postal address, or any other information that could directly identify you.
  • No Account Creation: You do not need to create an account to use WaterBit.
  • No Location Data: We do not collect your device's location.
  • No User Inputted Content: We do not collect the content of user water intake logs or reminder settings.

We do collect the following:

  • Usage Data: We collect anonymous information about how you interact with the App. This includes:
    • Features used (e.g., which water tracking features you interact with, reminder settings accessed).
    • Frequency of use (e.g., how often you open the app).
    • Actions taken within the app (e.g., logging water intake, adjusting reminder frequency, setting daily water goals).
    • Device information (e.g., device model, operating system version – but not any unique device identifiers that could be linked back to you personally).
    • Error logs.
    • Session duration.

2. Purpose and Legal Basis for Processing

We use the collected Usage Data for the following purposes, based on our legitimate interests:

  • App Improvement: To understand how users interact with the App, identify areas for improvement, develop new features, and fix bugs. This allows us to provide a better user experience. Our legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in improving our product.
  • Analytics: To analyze trends in App usage and measure the effectiveness of our features. Our legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in understanding how our App is used.

3. How We Collect Information

We collect Usage Data automatically through the App as you use it. This data is collected using:

  • Third-Party Analytics Services: We use third-party analytics providers, specifically Mixpanel and Amplitude, to help us collect and analyze Usage Data. These services use their own technologies (like SDKs integrated into our app) to collect this information. The data is anonymized before being sent to these services.

4. Data Storage, Security, and Retention

  • Storage: The Usage Data we collect is stored by our third-party analytics providers (Mixpanel and Amplitude) on their secure servers. You should review their privacy policies for specifics on their data storage practices.
  • Security: We take reasonable measures to protect the information we collect from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures include using reputable third-party providers with strong security practices.
  • Retention: We retain Usage Data for a period of 2 years, after which it is deleted or further anonymized. Aggregated, anonymized data, which cannot be used to identify any individual, may be retained indefinitely.

We share Usage Data with the following third parties:

The Usage Data we collect may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries outside of your country of residence, including the United States. These countries may have data protection laws that are different from the laws of your country.

When we transfer data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as:

  • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs): We ensure that our third-party providers (Mixpanel and Amplitude) use Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission to ensure adequate protection for data transfers outside the EEA.
  • Adequacy Decision: If our third-party providers are located in a country with an adequacy decision.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:
